[1] Alphabets

We have learned vowels (అచ్చులు 'a-ccu-lu') and consonants (హల్లులు ‘ha-llu-lu’) so far. We also learnt how can merge vowels with the consonants to form a rich set of sounds. In this class, we will talk about consonant blends.

Consonant blend is when you combine one consonant with another consonant. For example, consider the following English words. “lt, rt, rg, rp” are all consonant blends. “rr, kk, ll, gg” are also consonant blends – but a special type of consonant blends.

What happens if you don’t have the consonant blends? Can you try saying the name “Clara”?

Only the fourth row is sounding right because of the consonant blend.
